have you changed the dog bone mount?
Have noticed of late that when I take my foot off the accelerator, a whole heap of weight
shifts forward and clunks, like a worn engine or gearbox mount. Anyone had experience with this?
have done control arm bushes already.
not sure what else it could be. Most likely gearbox mounts?
Car is a 99 GTI 1.8t FWD
have you changed the dog bone mount?
ah yes have done that as well![]()
Dogbone as mentioned the other week Ryan. It's a must change item the VW one is dire.
Gavin
EDIT not the dog bone then...... I'll get my coat
Not expecting the other mounts would be contributing.

hahaha Gav it feels like maybe gearbox mount but unsure on how all the dub mounting works lol totally foreign compared to my subbies
wouldnt have thought that engine worn engine mounts would allow much forward/backward movement?
I reckon if I looked hard I'd find one from my A3 in the shed. They do move around a bit though.
Gavin
send me a pm if you have no luck with Gav - have a pair in the shed
if you have replaced the dogbone recently and the movement has started happening after this then perhaps make sure you dont have any loose bolts?
Ive seen it happen before where a bolt can work its way loose after not being torqued correctly. I generally use a touch of loctite just to be sure.
