But doesn't the Holden badge make it superior to everything?

The window clip problem has been well documented, VW should have used metal instead of plastic. Mirrors moving together part of the design, quite clever. You can adjust Left first then Right to get preferred views. Dipstick breaking after 10 years, not too shabby I think, could be worse

vw should have used metal on the dipstick tube.

i used to think nissan was unrealiable (compared to toyota and mazda), but vw is less reliable than all 3 of those

I suppose it depends on one's definition of reliable. If the car breaks down all the time because of failure in electronic or engine related parts, I would call that unreliable. If parts break all the time, it would be poor choice or material or poor design (very annoying but hope the mark 2 version fixes the problems). If parts wear down or break after a number of years, it would just be part of owning that particular type of car. Just my opionion.

The dipstick funnel was broken on my Mk3.5 when i bought it. It was <$5 from dealership spares IIRC. I also bought a few other minor parts (trim clips, etc) & they were all suprisingly cheap.

It was only when I started needing engine mounts, clutches, suspension & roof parts that things started getting to heart-attack prices.

My Nissan U13 Bluebird was the most reliable car I ever owned. My Gen2 Liberty didn't live up to the reputation of Gen2 Libs.
