There is a software upgrade for the DSG on the T5GP.
I had it done to mine, it is a great improvement for the dreaded lag when rolling into a roundabout, and then you decide to boot it, but the van doesn't know what to do for a good 1 second.........
This cures that problem.
This is where I show my stupid... That or I have been living under a rock...
What exactly is a T5GP? Is it simply the offical name for the T5.x "new" models or something more special?
Long story short, does that mean there is an upgrade for our 2010, 103kW TDI's DSG box since we have that whole lag thing going on??

Yes, the current T5 series is sometimes referred to as the T5GP, or T5.1.
Yes, there is a software upgrade for your vehicle. My dealer upgraded mine when the vehicle was being serviced. There was no charge for the upgrade.
In my case, it transformed the van. After the upgrade, you find that the gearbox actually shifts down through the gears as you are slowing down. So instead of rolling into a roundabout in 4th gear, you will find it is in 2nd or 3rd, which will be the right gear to take off if you put your foot down.
Hi Guys............looks like the topic has shifted somewhat...................so I might as well ask, I also have a 2008 Golf GT Sport DSG.....was there a upgrade for that as well and if so should the dealer have done it at the last service?
Thanks.......................
Sorry, no idea about the golf.....
My dealer searched for an upgrade due to my complaint about the vehicle being dangerous. So, ask your dealer to search their database to see if there is an upgrade.
I just had a 30,000 service a couple of weeks ago and there was no mention that an upgrade was done (or needed). Might have to follow up to see what it what.
Does anyone have any information on the upgrade? Is there a service number or something that can be quoted if the dealer doesn't know anything about it??

Unless you complain about the DSG box, I doubt a dealer will look for an upgrade......What's the old saying....'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.
There are a few dealers on this forum, maybe they will jump in with some reference numbers for you.
**EDIT**
I found this on another forum:
"Some of you with TDI's equipped with DSG's may or may not have these issues - but now there appears to be a fix.
I've had a problem with a long delay in the DSG engaging from a stop. Also, I've had some engine hesitation and lurching issues.
Here is information from my paperwork after having those issues repaired.
There was an ECM Software update to fix engine hesitation and lurching at low speed. That problem seems to be fixed.
UPDATE NUMBER: 23602599
Huge delay in the engagement of the DSG from a stop. There was a TSB for this specific issue dated on June 16, 2011. After my initial drive from the dealership to work --- this problem also appears to be fixed.
TSB NUMBER: 2011690/3 35-11-01"
This is apparently for ' all models 2004-2011 DSG. All VIN #'s'
