T4 Transporter - Map Sensor issues
Looking for some guidance...My (much loved) T4 has an issue with the engine 'hunting' at idle. A number of 'suspect' hoses have been replaced but the problem remains. My mechanic has come to the conclusion that the map sensor is failing and (probably) needs to be replaced.
He tells me that on this particular model, the map sensor is integral to the computer and will require replacement of the whole unit.
That seems a rather dramatic (and expensive) option given that it may not solve the problem.
My question is...Can I fit separate map sensor, bypassing the integral one??? If so, can anyone direct me to the appropriate device???
I would be grateful for any guidance or advice in this regard...Thanks...

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can get the MAP sensor then you may be able to replace it.
I have a similar ECU of that era at home, if you want to confirm the spec of the ECU by opening it up, I can check mine and we can sort something out if it will do the job.
No cost option, until it is proved to fix your issue.
Can't do anything until Monday as I am interstate.

The map sensors can be replaced in your original ecu, there are companies in Sydney doing this repair work.
