    weber question

    hi all,

im currently running a 32/36 weber on a passat manifold on my golf, however i managed to pick up a 32/34 weber designed specifically for a mk1 golf, ie it's supposed to go straight on. the current weber needs work so using the new one would solve my problems.

the problem is, that it wont bolt to the passat manifold as the stud pattern is different, has anyone else come across this?

here is a pic of what I mean.....

the base gasket is from the existing weber, see how two holes dont line up?

how do i overcome this problem

is there some sort of adaptor plate i can buy.....

    any help is greatly appreciated.

I can't see that fitting to a standard manifold.

where have you found that this is meant to be a standard item for a golf!??

Yes, you could get an adapter made up, shouldn't be too hard. would most likely be a custom job

though I'm not sure of the point exactly. Is this 'new' weber actually new or reconditioned, it would be alot of work to go through to find out that this 'new' weber needs work as well. (if that makes sense)

i didnt say this is a standard golf item, it is a weber specifically designed for a golf, ie the throttle linkage/ jetting/ electric choke, are all designed to hook up in place of the standard single barrel carb.

i got it of US ebay for real cheap, the carb looks like new and everything works as it should, it is a genuine weber made in italy.

might have to look into some sort of adapter.

Ah right. I was confused as to exactly what you meant as designed specifically for golfs.

It's possible it was designed for a US golf, maybe a 1.7L, that may have had a different manifold. I'm not sure though.

Pm Preeny, he's a machinist, and could probably whip something up, or atleast point you in the right direction.
