i think its for some pollution thing..

i took mine off.

it was a pain welding the hole from the bracket..

the black box is a charcoal canister, used to filter the ommisions from the breather off the head

you can throw it in the bin really,and put a cute little filter on the top of you valve cover

yeah you dont need it.

but watch out when your pulling off the brackets as this might happen

i also noticed that it collects a fair bit of rust around the thing.

the purpose of the polution gear is to filter fumes from the fuel tank and send them into the intake to be burned off.

all post 1977 cars have this.

odds are no one will know its missing, but if you get caught out, the fine$$ are high, think, more than the car is worth......

oops my bad. i meant that small oil breather filters that look like small air filters
