I've also found some Jamex coilovers at a decent price. Anyone have any thoughts on these?
i found with my old gld (quite low, but with sachs super tourer shocks) that it handled much better over all conditions than my current LS with its rock hard bilsteins... the bil's are good when its dry.
i'm keen to try out these "hottuning" coilovers in the mk1. it cant be as bad as worn standard shocks, hehe.... and regardless, surely some extra travel on the front will be helpful.

They're probably the next bracket up in price but I can highly recommend Weitec coilovers. They cost just over a grand once you include shipping, maybe a bit less atm because of the aussie dollar.
They are very height adjustable, and they really handle well.

TDI mk1 on the road!!
I just e-mailed hot tuning and it is 190 GBP to ship the coilovers to Brisbane so 360 GBP in total, with conversion rate sitting at around 2:1 , your looking at around $720 at your door.
Not bad me things, expecially if you want to slam your ride to the floor!

email hottuning?! email robin!! (evorobin). he's our resident "poor-uni student" "coilovers bro!" hook up. ( he's the distributor for hottuning here )..
well i've been driving around on my hottuning for a while now.. say.. nearly month. with coilovers, especially when the ground is corrugated or rutty - read: all of sydney, it all gets a bit skittish. but when the surface is smooth.. it's incredible.. never felt as much lateral g force.. ever..
and to be honest, they're kinda breaking in and the ride gets more and more compliant every time i ride in them.. for instance, i've ridden a lot in my mates s2000, and i'd say my mk2 is similar for ride. it's not horrible, but it's no 50's citroen.
i'm on uni holidays for the next 4 weeks. if anyone in the sydney area wants to come for a ride just shoot me a message...(any excuse for a burn)

ive been looking into the hot tunning coilvers for my next project (mk1 3rd hopefully) and i was wondering if there damper adjustable ones?
im 90% sure they arnt for the price and it doesnt bother me either way. are they shorter stroke with a stiffer damper than std. shocks?
ill be going 13"s and slamed on the ground so for the price these should work well.
Not dampner adjustable, but they work well. I have a set. For the price (1/3rd of anything else you can get in oz) they are a bargain.
