That's awesome! My mum bought my '89 16V off me actually! She didn't have it that long in the end, but has always had VW's. She had a few Polos after that! That blue one of yours does look good, i remember the ad for it! You're getting a nice collection together now
I'm still struggling to decide whether i get a Mk1 or Mk2 tbh, it really depends what turns up and looks good first. I'm also getting slightly addicted to perving on aircooled 911's, and some of them are becoming more affordable...

hahaha, i was doing the same!! i'd love a late 60's/early to mid 70's 911, but can't afford one maybe someday.

owning both a mk1 and mk2, i'd say the mk2 is more grown up, more civilized but loads of fun, especially in the twisties. But there's something cheeky about the mk1, that i can't put my finger on.. even with crap brakes and a slow engine, its still puts a huge smile on my face, maybe that's coz it's new. and the mk1 is more simple and easier to work on.

    for a weekend fun car, i'd say a mk1

Yeah i hear ya! I think if i went down the Mk1 route i'd keep it original, mint, low and slow. Mk2 i'd want to put something with a bit more punch in, i really liked the 16V though, reckon it would be the bomb with a G-Lader strapped to it!

As for 911's, they've always been my dream car i guess, since i can remember playing with scalextric ones! I too love the late 60's to mid 70's. I don't think watching Urban Outlaw is going to be the best thing for my bank account one day, but the 964 is probably hands down my favourite (but still a bit too pricey).

id prob get a 1975 911, and take the Californian bumpers off, put early ones on. You've got early style, more refined car than the SWB's or early 70's ones, and pre-emissions!!! And they're probably the most affordable ATM.

Get this Porsche nonsense off a VW forum!!!!
