Yer they are both very different, the thing that confuses the hell out of me is the 76 has a "newer looking" fuse box, with fuses like you'd expect in a modern car... The newer 77 has an older looking fuse box with old style ceramic type fuses...Originally Posted by gtimk5

Your 76 has a later fusebox installed. does it have a cabrio dash?
They should both have the cigar shaped early fuses.

I dont really know mate, dunno much at this stage about golfs...
BUT, i do know that my cabby has round style speedo, but a clock? in place of where the tacho would normally be...The Golf Ls (76) on the other hand DOES have a tacho and a speedo and they are square shaped guages, if that helps...
I have just got a new workshop manual for it so will see if it has any additional info on the dashs and let you know if it is the same as whats in mine...
