you knowing the rego number proved a godsend, as it was the only way i can prove the car was actually registered in australia, as it doesn't have a australian compliance or import plate. it's been so long unregistered, the VIN and engine no. were not enough to find it's history on the national register. i can now get a hard copy to satisfy qld trans. it can be registered once all the repairs are made. the other hiccup was it was registered with the VIN having a 7 instead of a Z in the middle of the VIN, so also need the proof to prove it's the same car.
even if it's too much work to register, the 1.8/2.0l engine with webber, extractors and a just discovered TSR202 cam and 5 speed box will be ideal for a swap!
