    Dash/controls/button lighting question

    Hey guys,

Last night while I was out driving I noticed that the red light was missing from some of the controls and buttons in my car. My dash is lit, along with my climatic controls, but that's about it, all the rest of the controls and buttons have no red light. The red light around the 12v power plug is also gone. Any idea what has happened? My first thought was a fuse might have blown, but the owners manual is not very helpful on this subject, it just tells you to contact your local VW dealership. Anyone had this problem before?

Definately sounds like a fuse is blown.

Usually, whatever you've plugged into the 12V socket will cause this. Have you had any other accessories fitted to the car? Like a Touch Phone Bluetooth kit?

Last night I tried to charge my mobile using the 12V in the centre console. Nothing. Looks like I might have the same problem.

I've had a RNS510 navigation unit installed but that was a while ago and it has worked after that. I did however buy an iphone charger recently for the 12v socket, and that might have caused the problem. However, my 12v socket still works, it's just the red light around it, that's missing. But which fuse should I check? I don't have a fuse box diagram...

I also have a permanent warning light showing up in my dash. It's a light bulb with an exclamation mark inside, is that related to this problem? All the exterior light works on the car. I don't have any blown light bulbs...

I just re-tested the 12V socket, it only works when the car is running. Strange, the Golf can charge it when the ACC is on the ignition at least. (And the boot 12V socket is on all the time)

I've connected my amps remote (on/off) cable to the 12v socket. Should have power when ACC is on.
