^^^^ the only thing richycreations is doing is wasting fuel. Like MGV, I just take off and go, obviously taking it easy for the first few kms as it gets warmed up.
I thought this procedure was deemed fairly unnecessary in this day & age? Does anyone else let their car warm up before driving? I drive off fairly well straight away, although quite gently for the 1st few k's.
Anyway, sounds like you are really enjoying your new ride, happy motoring!![]()

Yep, manufacturers specs are always best case scenario and don't even start me on product reviews. Most reviews are re-hashed press releases and/or puff pieces from a writer who has usually been the beneficiary of some corporate hospitality from the supplier and a publication that accepts significant advertising spend.
From my own business experience I know how it goes - if you want 'editorial' in a publication it starts with a negotiation around how big and how expensive your ad is going to be. In most cases, they even ask you to write your own piece and unless you are a terrible writer they generally won't even edit it.
Was it on this forum I recently read about a manufacturer being ordered to compensate owners (in the UK?) because vehicles were getting nowhere near the manufacturers fuel economy claims?

Really, if your making assumptions like this you must have alot of engine manufacturing, design, assembly, testing, rebuilding under your belt.
Ill "waste" my few cents of fuel and insure everything is at operating temperature before driving rather then driving with everything stone cold. This may be an old school method but a few cents to prevent damage against my latest investment seems worth it.
Ok, I'll bite. People are entitled to their opinions on this forum without inane sarcasm like yours. If your happy with your old school method then that's fine, doesn't mean that others subscribe to it.....end

Thats correct, they are entitled to their opinions, and posting in ones thread with an opinion will incurre a response. Insane sarcasm or not, how ever you would like to take it im mearly pointing out with insufficient history/proof of your snide remark will result in another.
On a lighter note, 2500km no oil used yet.
Edit: tonight I was doing some straight spirited driving and noticed that shifts around 5k it was dsg farting, not sure if it has always been doing it and I have not noticed due to music. But it was quiet norticable tonight.

Just one other thing which I forgot to mention is the computer says the car has an average consumption of 6.8l/100km but the car has never done better than a properly measured 8.2L/100km. Should I mention that to the dealer
Did anyone else read the user manual. Mine says that the best way to warm up is to drive it for a little while at lower RPM's (dont remember exact wording), no need according to VW to sit there and wait.
Went for a drive from Brisbane up the mountain to Maleny and back (about 350k) on Sunday in sport the whole time and got 7.8, very happy!
