The KO3S will deliver a reliable 145 kw atw, although traction will be a problem - an LSD will aid traction in corners, but not off the line. With more aggressive tuning and higher octane fuel, hitting 155-160 atw is possible. As you go bigger in turbos, power is then directed more toward the higher end, eg KO4 mid-range, Garrett GT28R high-end. This obviously results in more lag - something that may or may not suit you.

Sorry to disagree mate but a lsd will help in everyway. Yes it may not eliminate wheel spin but it will help. And then if you match some sticky rubber with an lsd lookout. From memory KAI did a very high 13 with sticky rubber but no lsd wonder what is possile with his setup and lsd.

    EDIT - dam i want a lsd

I have an LSD and it does aid in traction off the line.

Fair enough, it certainly helps, but in terms of 1/4 mile drag strip times, it won't radically bring your time down (in a Polo GTI) - which is what Nick is interested in.

Both Ralphk and Guy H have/had LSD and K04 in their Polos - see their comments from previous posts re traction:

Ralphk - "I have 215/40/17 and LSD......and yep still traction problem."

Guy H - "LSD (or really its not an LSD, but a TBD : Torque biasing differential - very different to how an LSD behaves). Anyway - its one of the biggest single improvements to the Polo - not so much in launching or drag racing starts, but through corner speed and the ablity to keep the power down is improved by zillions of a percent!"

Guy's best drag strip time was 14.0 with approx 160 kw atw and TBD - and indications are he had no proper traction until 3rd gear.

My best time was 14.1 with 133.5 kw atw @ 99mph. I could only manage a 14.3 with 145 atw bc traction become considerably worse. What's interesting is that I did 14.3 @ 103mph, which in theory means I was losing over half a sec in traction.

Kai did manage a 13.9 with semi-slicks. He's got lots of experience at 1/4 mile strips. Also, if you're prepared to abuse and hammer the drivetrain and clutch, it can be done. Personally I found all the gunk and water they piled on strip made my traction worse

Maybe they'll start doing that and it will become the norm.

ha ha ha. ..I think our female members are mostly in Sydney. On the next Sydney cruise day, some brave dude could suggest that they pose like that for a photo??? (just kidding). ..although seen some pics of VW festivals in the UK where the gals don't leave much to the imagination
