Should I change my intercooler to a single pass

    My build is taking forever.
I will put up a build thread later but at this stage.
But for now I am picking up my car from
a fabricator (who sat on it for two weeks) and sending it to Westside Mufflers at Padstow to
get the exhaust built, 3in right thru, the intake side of the intercooler piping made up to 2.5in
    plus a heat shield.

The Relentless V3 manifold puts the turbo in a different spot to the original Polo manifold.
The intercooler charge pipe now runs up from the turbo and then
either across the firewall then forward to the intercooler like an S3 or I can just run the charge pipe forward
and run a single pass intercooler.

This means that I have to change the end tanks on the THS Seat intercooler
or buy a single pass intercooler and
    sell the THS.

Or I can just run the charge pipe across the motor. (cheapest option)

    Which way should I go?

Without a doubt, if you are having pipes made I'd be on a single pass and offload the THS.

A 3 inch system will be pretty boomy in my experience. Had one on my A3 with the JBS04. I have 2.5 on my Polo now and I think that's a good compromise, with 3 inch downpipe.

    Any pictures????

Pictures will come. Still waiting to get my car back first. I will do a build thread with a review of all the components I'm changing.

With regards to exhaust, I was hoping a resonator would remove most of the booming.
I am expecting some droning, just hoping not too much. I don't want to compromise the performance.

To be honest I am really happy with the THS intercooler but the opportunity to install a singe pass
may be too good to refuse. I just don't to delay the build any longer either.

Should I cut the end tanks off the THS or buy a different intercooler.
The THS has an excellent core and its huge. Just seems a shame to chop it up!

For what it's worth, my Polo has a custom 3" exhaust from turbo back, and it drones in the most horrible way. Driving it at highway speeds is an absolute nightmare. It sounds fantastic at WOT and I'm very happy with the performance, but if I was to go back to driving the Polo every day I'd be going back to the 2.5" system I had previously.

What this man says! It's not just the silencing, there's a heap of noise comes out the side of the pipework too. 2.5 inch won't be a compromise, have a look what size pipes the Golf R uses as standard.

Don't chock the THS up, buy another I/C. My Seat Sport is dropping at least 3PSI I reckon. Gash measuring, using 2 boost gauges, one on the turbo outlet the other on the inlet manifold.

I'll have a talk to the exhaust shop and see what they say as well.
Is there anyone else running a 3 inch system? If so what are your thoughts.

I'll get a price on a new intercooler and see what the total cost is. Makes sense to
    do it now.
Anyone in the market for a THS Seat intercooler.

IM running a full 3" non-res tbe albeit on a golf not a polo though. Tbh it can get a little annoying on the highway but just sounds so good at wot. On a k03/04 frame turbo 2.5" is plenty, any bigger and I'd go 3"

I think I will go 3 inch. I'll run a resonator with it. Spoke to Paul from Westside and he said that with good mufflers it shouldn't drone too much. I will only drive it on weekends so I can put up with a bit of noise.

I will go for a single pass intercooler. Leaning towards changing the end tanks on the THS as it has such a good core. Plus it fits well across the front of the Polo. Unless I can get a good single pass bar and plate intercooler at a good price. Any suggestions!

So many good off-the-shelf single pass coolers, seems a shame to hack the THS (then again, its got the bracketry all good to go).

Id be concerned about making it have eddies and weird airflow, but I might be overestimating the engineering that goes into a cooler.

You could hit up Bill @ Badger 5 in the UK for one of these beauties

Ah Junior, is there anything you've done to your Polo that isn't pure porn
