True, the small rim does make a difference, the tyres are massive.

Off topic a bit, what is the size of the standard 16" wheels?

    205/45R16 x 6.5 and the offset? 5 x 100?

I have so much trouble look for a set of wheels...

Find the right style and it doesnt fit, find some fit but i dun like the style...

I just got my wheels back from the sandblasters and I think from the feedback from the forum, I'm going to see if I can get a colour that'll be in between black and charcoal. I'll keep you people posted on how the rims go!

    Thanks for your input people!

Hkogti - you can also look at purchasing Subaru rims - they are PCD 5x100. Older Mk4 and Mk3 also come in the 5x100 PCD. Hopefully that'll open up some options for you!

LOL, Good luck with that. When I had my BBS rims done, I was presented with a set of colour cards that had....oooh....50 variations between black and charcoal....and don't forget...anthracite!

Anthracite is good, just another colour between the process of choosing between black or charcoal

If I was you I would suggest getting your wheels not powdercoated but 2 pack paint, its a little more expensive but they will last and also come up looking 92347263x better than powdercoating.

Problem is - if you go too black you lose all the detail in the rim, and going too light may incorrectly contrast with the colour of the car.

I went for Dulux Precious Steel Pearl powdercoat in satin (see avatar above) which I thought contrasted reasonably well against red.

Can't recall the code of mine, but it has a lovely touch of 'rose' in it, which enhances the red

Haha I first thought you had a problem with brake dust...

But yeah go charcoal/gun metal - next on the list for me would be to get the stock GTI rims powdercoated gun metal, then a set of chrome bolt covers as highlights
