    Performance measuring on the cheap

Here's one for any Iphone owners

    http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/29/d...ormance-meter/

One app that has us really psyched is a new automotive performance meter called Dynolicious from BunsenTech. It uses the accelerometer inside the iPhone to let you record 0-10 through 0-100 times, quarter mile and trap speed, Lateral Gs, horsepower and more. Results are also displayed in real-time on the phone itself with graphs and a speedometer
okay not so cheap if you don't have an Iphone

Accelerometer based tools, such as G-tech, are a bit hit and miss. If this also hooks into GPS, it might be a bit more accurate. As an unapologetic gadget freak I'll probably get this, and report on results

    Go for it Timbo
Take it on a real drag strip and post back the different times + speed.
    Accurate to 1.5 mph

Even if it's not that accurate it would still be a good way to test out ball park improvements from mods, till you can get some real tests done wouldn't it?

I've seen reports from dragstrip tests against the G-Tech Pro with only thousands of a seconds difference. Its pretty good.

Who cares if it is 0.003s out over 400m

it could be the difference between a 13.997 sec pass and a 14sec pass

In my experience, even when you set it up with painstaking care, the G-Tech Pro is not consistent, ie, against a set of time slips. You're right, on some runs it might be 0.03s out, but on the next it might be 0.3s out
