Boost Gauge? how to install..

oil sandwich plate wont fit due to the filter length and how close it is to the fans!

If there is anyone in Sydney that could install this boost gauge for me, Ill pay them to do so..

Ive talked to a few auto electricians and mechanics and they are very very iffy about installing this boost gauge.. To me it says they dont really know what they are doing. Werid..

follow that guide and its easy! or print the guide off for a mechanic and he will easily do it for you!

i dont know about sydney but a few mechanics up here on the coast are lil iffy bout working on euro cars in general.

I was going to do it last night...

I open up the autometer boost gauge... t-piece missing..

I took it back... went to exchange it for another... I compared the contents and it was missing other parts..

I proved the missing parts to the shop attendant who had no explanation as both the same gauges had different pieces in their installation kit..

Got the VDO gauge with fitting kit in the mail - the whole set looks far more substantial with proper brass fittings and stiff hoses (the Newsouth gauge is based on the VDO), the thing actually weighs a bit, mostly metal and looks like it'll last 100 years, gotta love German engineering (probably still made in China though). T-piece is sold separately but I'll just use the one from the dodgy $20 kit.

It might still be an old fashioned mechanical gauge but the electronic ones on eBay costing 50% more look like toys in comparison.

Will put it in over the weekend, wish me luck.

ive instaled my boost gauge.

Ended up buying another auto meter mechanical gauge. 52mm, pro competition series. Nice gauge has vaccum and boost.

Fitted it under the air conditioning controls, using cigarette lighter for power.

Seems to work well.. Initially I had it all installed and somehow I had kinked the nylon hose. I had to get a new hose..
