For those Mk1'er should understand what I mean, these fuses in early golf (or passat) are different from what's generally available in service station. I need a few of them to fix my headlight problem, I'll go to Repco this afternoon to ask but prepare they'll say they don't have these old fuse.

Repco will have those fuses, they're pretty common to European cars and especially VW. Same fuses used in Beetles and Kombis for years.
Narva make an assortment pack or you can buy packets of the particular rating you're after.
I'd recommend replacing all the fuses. The very old fuses can be corroded and I've actually seen a few where the tips have worn off due to a loose fuse holder. Clean up the fuse holder terminals with a bit of fine sand paper and you'll be good for another 30 years.
