Just as well it's not bothering me then!
Hi all,
Bought my 118TSI in March 2010. Had read this thread and asked the dealer at the time if the problem had been fixed. Dealer brought out the head mechanic from the service department who assured me the problem would not be present in the new TSIs. Picked up the car in June. Build date Feb 2010.
Have had the chirp from 2600kms. I am a little annoyed!
The chirps been gone for two weeks now - missing it already!
It may return just not as loud, mine comes and goes depending on the temperature.
Yeah my chirp has gone too :( also missing it...
Stoney!
My 09 build MY10 started the chirp at almost exactly 4,000km. Have just booked in with my dealer who heard the noise clearly. All known and covered under warranty.
It sounds like a little mouse is under my bonnet and is doing it almost all the time now. It will not be missed!
My 09 golf developed the same noise and the water pump under warranty. 7k kms later the chrip come back, if this is going to happen every 7k km than VW should be replacing the part free for the rest of the cars life. It is a desgin fault and we should not have to pay for the part after the warranty period has ended. Has anyone else experienced this problem after it has been replaced? I would be interested to know.
I have booked my Aug 09 purchased 118TSI to look at the squeak on 20 Aug together with the 15k or 12 mths service. The car was in the workshop almost 2 mths ago and they claim that the issue was repaired (cannot find out what repaired means). It went away and came back 2 weeks ago.
Hoping that they replace mine with the supposed new model that fixes the issue.
I bought my 118TSi in July '10 (built in March '10) and the car developed the same issues after 500 kms... I thought I would have had the fix... :-(
Your Golf is probably coming with new w/pump, unfortunately it is looking that new pump is not fixing famous squeal ....
anyway this is translation from Auto Bild talking about that problem in Germany
