I don't know where you are in SYD but I went to Bill Buckle in Brookvale and complained about the jerks from the DSG. First got the clutchpacks replaced then the mechatroniks and then the complete gearbox. All under warranty with no problems. I dropped the car off and an hour later they called me and said "we got the computer diagnostics and you need a new box" Next day I could pick up the car all done.

I had the clutch plate on my car replaced a second time. It ran smooth but not for long. The shudder came back, which tells me the problem is not with the clutch plate. Frustrated, I drove the car in manual mode for a week. Initially I felt the shudder in different gears. After about a week, the car seem to sort itself out. Now I am back in auto mode and it drives as it should. The shudder is gone and fuel comsumption has returned to normal. Hope this works for you guys out there with this problem.Quote:

I took it to my local VW dealer (NMG at Kedron), and the service guy got a mechanic to come for a drive with me. With the mechanic in the car, I couldn't replicate the bad shuddering (it would do the shudder thing 8 times in a row at times)... He said that they now put spacers in the clutch which will stop the clutch plates from warping and I won't have it happen again because of the spacers.
I picked the car up just before the weekend, been driving around heaps and it's like a new car again... I'm very glad that my local dealer has good customer service and knows how to look after the customer... a bit of a different experience to what some others have experienced reading this thread...

Has anyone else had a shudder come back after the recall was done?
Had what felt, at first, like a misfire but upon driving it down (after not driving it all weekend) to Euro Elite for them to have a look, it felt more like the dsg again, but shudders in almost every gear. Most noticeable between 6th and 7th.
They did a scan for me, 0 errors and took it for a drive, so thoughts are it is the clutch pack again.
Booked in to VW for them to do a diagnostic, expected out come is the clutch packs - this will be the third replacement if it is the cause.
I love this car but can't wait for my new car to be delivered now. Was tempted to keep the 118 as my daily drive but doubt I will.
Yes I have brought another VAG car though so it hasn't ruined my experience totally :-)
Don't worry Bel - the 6-speed "S-tronic" in the S3 is just the DQ250 from the GTI/R - and it's a rock-solid gearbox these days, with zero clutch slip issues. ;)Quote:

There's been a recall on some of those too :( Stay away from anything with that gearbox. If you are considering a new Golf then the TDI or GTI are the ones to get as they have the wet clutch 6spd dsg.Quote:
