Nice!!!! I bet you can't wait. I ordered mine in April and sometimes wish that I took an available R at the time. Hope the wait will be worthit. Make sure you post some pics when you get it.
Well, I picked up my GTI on Saturday thanks to some help from the dealer.
So far, amazing. It really does feel like the 1 Series and Audi's I sat in. The fit, the finish and the materials feel great. Not unlike the new C250 in the family. I thought I had a rattle in the roof for a while before I realised it was my glasses in the little compartment! Other than that, not a peep, squeak or buzz.
The nav is great, picks up locations and routes well enough. The entire interface might be a touch slow but I like the overall system, it is easy enough and quick enough.
I am really, really glad I waited to get what I wanted. The phone is properly integrated, the GPS aerial is in the roof, I love the cloth seats and the way the red matches the wheel and the grill, I love that I didn't spend 3k on what is average leather I didn't want. I could have had my car 4 months ago but it would have been a waste.
I can't wait to take it over 3,000RPM!
Overall, I am a happy camper. The only thing I have had a problem with so far is the lights. Last night coming home, the fog was as thick as it has ever been. The Xenon lights are awful, the rebound and glare made it impossible to see. I turned off my main lights and just used the foggies. I haven't done that for a while! Obviously not something VW have anything to do with really but still, it was an experience!
I don't know what they told you.. but as soon as the temp gauge hits 90 you can flog it..
Don't baby the new car, it will grow up a slug. Let it warm up and drive it hard as you would if it wasn't a new car.Quote:

I'm a little bit old school, a little bit new. I'm not going to thrash it straight out of the box, it's just in my blood. That being said it will be used.
It has only done 500km so far so it will be a few more before I open it up. It's not so much what the dealer said or anyone else says, it's my basic understandings of mechanics and machinery that will forever guide me.
Still looking forward to it!
I am old school as well.. always warm cars up etc etc etc.. but the direction provided by VW was drive it as you would the car you have now.. if you are going to press it wait till it is at operating temp. and also wait till 1500 kays till you mess with the paddles as you tend to over rev it when you are learning how to use them
