I think the most frustrating thing is the VWs attitude to the situation. Not once have a heard "sorry for the inconvenience", "we understand this is frustrating" or any sympathy from the employees at all. Even after i dropped my car off to have the clip installed, when i went to pick it up all i heard was the clip wasn't instock and they do it next time . My personal experience with VW staff are they are rude (even when I initially went to buy the car no sales person would give me the time of day) in the end I got a buyers advocate to do it, ignorant, for example dismissing the existence of the TPI, instead of saying "I'm unaware of that one, but I will look into it and call you back immediately". General customer service goes along way to easing a customers frustrations with issues such as this.
Would the dealership be Barloworld by chance??? I received the very same response from one of the service monkies...
