If it was all subjective then why did you want to ditch your GTI three weeks into ownership and admitting to me that you wanted to get the R?

The MKV provides more driver feedback than the MKVI GTI which = more fun, there is nothing subjective about that. It either is or isn't.

You must have the worst of luck having bought the mk6 GTI weeks before the R was released. Then putting up the GTI for sale to buy the R but having no bites. So you set about trying to tear down the R to make yourself feel better about it. Good one!
    Hook line and sinker.

You need a new hobby mate, besides MK6 hating. The Pirelli is hardly perfect, worse than the Golf R.

Forums are good at bringing out the best in people like you, just enjoy your MK5 and get over it buddy. I don't hate MK5's but don't see how it is sooo much more fun. All it is is a bit less sound proofing which adds more noise, but the MK6 feels more like a solid euro car as you would expect (similar to Audi).

I'm not torn up and people with their R will be seeing a heap of them on the streets so wont be anything that special.

I was selling it for different reasons and not buying an R, so get over it..

I agree that the R is better than the Pirelli in some ways.

Who is hating the MK6? I can't be hating the Mk6 if I am praising the R. Are you thinking logically?
I would rather be an common R owner and enjoying the drive than a mkVI GTI owner. Remember the MK4 GTIs are also quite rare (bec they were not popular) but everyone knows that they are not great performers stock.

They are all great cars, it's not a contest. I love them all can't you leave it at that?

(I also don't think the Golf R is that much better either for the extra spend, and is basically similar to the R32 stock for stock but with more lag and the exhaust/engine note isn't as good).

I will if you stop coming to the defense of the Mk6 GTI every time a criticism is levelled at it. (like you did with the R32 when you owned it)
The MkVI GTI has faults, as does the Pirelli, as does the R and the R32 before it.

The MKVI GTI rattles on acceleration. It is a fault - admit to and not downplay it.

Let there be open discussion of the faults and praises for the cars. Stop the fanboyism.

No car is perfect as I said. I'd prefer the general build quality and more rigid chassis and traction ability of the MK6, but that's just me. The DSG and engine is very crisp, and the MK5 rattles are annoying as anything but these cars are all built to a price after all.

This is fairly blown out of proportion but good to see you are gloating about it.

Not gloating, just pointing out that faults of the mkVI GTI.

It seems that you cannot stand for any criticism (however minor) of any car that you currently own.

It was the same when you owned your R32 - you went around attacking people who criticised it. Then after you sold it - you used the very same criticisms you defended against, as reasons why you sold it! Brilliant! You should work in sales, that is where your talent lies.

Nice little to and fro there between you two

Back on topic. The 'rattle' never bothered me to begin with. My 2010 mk6 GTI just hit 11,000km. I don't notice this rattle much anymore. It is either because all the parts are now worn in properly, or its because summer has surfaced. Lately its been warmer during the day in the 30Cs and there are days I don't hear any rattle whatsoever. I guess a third possibility could exist, I could be going deaf
