Recently my car appears to have developed a very faint intermittent miss or cough at idle.
It is very faint, if the GTI engine wasn't so smooth or if the radio volume was up I wouldn't notice it. The tachometer needle doesn't register it, and the car runs well (even better with this cold weather we're having). It just seems to stutter at idle, like one of the cylinders isn't firing cleanly.
Anybody else experience this? Any thoughts?

That's what I'd imagine it would be like, I figure that what I'm feeling is the engine movement like what you see in the video.

failing coilpack?
This one then?

They did an upgrade but it still does it, just not as often. Booked in for Wednesday, So I'll ask them again.
Occurs on rare occasions when very cold in the morning, I just let it sit for a tad longer until it stabalizes before pulling away.
I've had slight hesitation/shudder at idle....only started since I filled my GTI with Shell V Power. I've used all other fuels on the market, this was the last fuel to buy as part of my 'fuel experiment'.
Not sure what is so different about V Power by my GTI doesn't like it.
Looking forward to an empty tank and for me to solely using Mobil 8000.

Hmm.. Vpower is what I use as well. Might try another brand of Hi octane cash spender!!!
I usually only use V-Power, but due to necessity (was out in the country) had to put some BP Ultimate in the other week, which ran very well. So I went back for seconds (closer to home), and (as on past occasions) the car was the most sluggish it had ever been. Once I got down to half a tank I filled with V Power again, and it ran great again.
My personal experience is (with my current and previous car):
Mixing fuels = best result
Only V Power = still pretty good
Only BP Ultimate = Sluggish, not very responsive
I understand others have great results with BP, so I'm guessing it's something to do with the particular BP stations around where I live.
/off topic
On mixing fuels, If I run Vpower one tank and fill the next with 95, I get about 100kms more milage than on either plain fuels!
