ABS causing many issues, cannot fix so far
Hello everyone, this is my first proper post outside of the Newbie section. Im mostly certain that this type of issue hasn't been discussed on this page before but I apologise if it has been. So I have a 2011 mk6 golf 103TDI, and its got an issue. It started probably a year ago ish and has slowly worsened, I am having an issue with my abs which triggers an engine fault, then the power steering, speedo, and then the fuel gauge to bounce/ move around.
To get into the details of the issues,
- the traction control, abs, and stability control lights come on as well as the hand brake light flashing, on the dash screen it says brakes error workshop
- the glow plug light also flashes as well as the engine light on too
- most of the time the steering light is on as well, indicating the power steering is out, this sometimes does go out but is getting more and more rare
- additionally and this is the part I find most odd, the fuel gauge moves, eg. when I put my foot down, or am on a hill the gauge is in the incorrect spot and bounces around
It initially started with the abs lights coming on rarely, and I'd power cycle the car and they would go. This progressed to them being on constantly but only going away once the engine was at temp. then power cycled, this solution did however slowly stop working and it is now at its current point as described above.
what I've replaced,
- all four abs sensors ( though cheap eBay ones I wanted to prove that they were not the fault, which is has been confirmed that they are not)
- all abs, and stability control related fuses and relay
- the multi/ central fuse on the side of the fuse box ( replaced today, did a test drive and the speedo came back only after power cycling, all other issues remain)
- battery has been tested, grounds have been checked and abs module connections have been cleaned
With all these issues the car still drives fine, though I have to use Waze for speed but everything else works great, engine/ dsg.
I really appreciate any help or advice anyone has, this has slowly become an annoying and expensive issue. I really don't want my first car to die after only 2 yrs of owning it. I'm dreading that it is the module itself but I know that's the most likely cause. ( happy to post error codes and photos if thats any help)
