FWIW Penrith Volkswagen did do the 1000km check. Maybe that's why my 118TSI is still full at 6000km.

Maybe you've never started it up and you pushed it 6000km?

Not at the school I went to Rick, (and yes, I went to school in the pre-metric days of miles, yards, feet and inches). By my reckoning, 6,000 mm is more like 6 metres than 6 Km!

    Cheers

Expect some engine oil consumption depending on weather & driving style.

After some 2,800kms driving in hot conditions & at times driving 'vivaciously', before my trip to Victoria I filled engine oil to the top. By last weekend the oil was at the bottom end of the dipstick.

I actually had to buy some Mobile 1 engine oil while I was on the road to the south coast and put in 1 litre.

But during the victoria trip the weather was really warm, I was on dirt road at times, and plenty of hilly twisty roads while keeping rpms high.

    It's within my expectations.

You must be old like me, George!

Having all those different multipliers sharpened the brain I reckon. What with feeler gauges in thousandths of an inch, spanners in fractions of an inch ( and was it Whitworth, BSF or AF?), 12 inches to the foot, 3 feet to a yard, 6 feet to a fathom, 220 yards to a furlong, 1760 yards to a mile...

All these powers of 10 are a doddle.
