Today I climbed into my car as usual, but something was missing... I have 38742 k's on the clock and noticed that today, the lovely new car smell has disappeared.
Which is fair, seeing as it's not really a new car anymore. But I really loved that smell, and seeing as though the bank balance won't really agree with a new car this year, I've been wondering if any of you have found an air freshener that can replicate it?
I have cloth seats by the way, yes next time around it will be leather.
I found this...

Wondering if any of you have tried it? Or tried something better?
Much love.

why would u want to replicate that new car smell? personally, i hate it and is a potential health hazard from the reaction of volatile chemicals.

Well that may or may not be true, but I still prefer it to:
a) french vanilla
b) citrus zest
c) calming lavender
or
d) stale fart

I too have heard that the "new car smell" is indeed toxic.
However I also agree that the smell is quite pleasant. Certainly better than stale vomit/fart.
I remember quite a few years back taking my car to a BP servo that had a car wash attatched. I only went there to use the industrial vaccum cleaner on the cloth seats (not my golf) and there was also a seperate spray nozzle where you could choose various odours.
One option was "new car smell". I chose it. Sprayed it vigorously until used up. And the result was quite good.
That was a long time ago.... Not sure if it's still available. If anyone stops at a BP w car wash attached-> have a look see

I attribute my little discovery to a little serendipity -
To maintain the new car smell, replace all four door seals every 30,000 km/2 years.
Or pretty much any rubber seal that easily comes to hand, such as window seals, maybe body seals, etc.
I found that just having one replaced immediately brought back that heady feeling of sitting in a new car, so I shall therefore proceed to have all four done in the near future and experience getting :crackhead: once more.

I didn't actually know that there was products advertised as New Car in a Bottle, but i have always thought that Auto-Kolone smells like new car (well, i've always called it New-Car-in-a-Bottle).
Here is what it looks like...
