Really good I say. My wife got ours (White 5dr DSG GTI, Detroits and tint) for $40k. I knew i married her for a reason...

That's an excellent price, how long ago was that? Was it brand new or ex-demo/used?

About a week ago, brand new

She got some sort of business discount as well.

She must have had Corporate+ Discount, need to have 25 or more cars under that company (not necessarily all VW cars) which I think will get her $1500 discount. But Detroits (if they are 18" your ones) are an additional $1200 so that is excellent.

Can you let us know which dealer that was?

Detroits are 18". 17" are Denvers. I read the brochure. I couldn't be bothered looking for 18s to be fitted after. i liked the Detroits so they were my only conditions on purchasing the car.

I can't release the details of dealer purely because we told them we wouldn't. All i can say is its a funny game we play with car sales people. The lies and the ability for them to take advantage of someone if they wished. i only wished if they got caught in a lie, they don't proceed on digging a bigger hole. Funny game.

Since i had my GTI for 10 days now, thought i'd share mine:

12.5 GTI, Candy White, DSG, 5 door, Detroits, Leather and Sunroof $45,650 on the road with corp discount and drive away.
Added on Dealer fit RVC and Tints for another $1,500 or so on top.

Golf 90TSi 7sp Auto DSG
including Park Assist ($1400)
in stock at the dealers
Last months price: $33,500...
(excluding corp discount, dont think i could get it anyway? dont know how?)

now after EOFY sale (free Dealer delivery, stamp duty, rego) works out to $29,990, good price?

Also not sure how to go about swaying the dealer for free floor mats / discounted tinting?
How have people gone about this? would like not to have to wear a short skirt for this jks lol

I just picked up a 90TSI with park assist (1400) + sunroof (1900) for $30,790.
Dealer threw in metallic paint + mats for for free.

Picked up my GTI on Wendnesday - wondering if I was suppose to recieve a MAPs dvd for my RNS510... not sure if I was suppose to or not... and haven't really found any answers after querying google. Anyone know if I should have recieved one? I also need to head back there as the nuff nuff doing pre-delivery did not correctly set the dvd region on my unit...

Hi,

We have just put the deposit down for Golf 118TSI DSG 7 speed, comfortline $32,500 with corporate discount, including leather trim, Park Assist, Mats, Tint, Corporate Discount Services, On road road (stamp duty, delivery etc.), ipod connector, RPP was $35,000 not including all the extra. Is it a good price, because the deposit is fully refundable.

Can we still come back and ask them for pens, cup holders, umbrellas ? Or will it sound too greedy?

Finance is $10,000 the rest is deposit with 7% interest rate.

Thanks

These tears are real :(

Hit the Service Manager up for goodies if you can get on good terms with them

Dealers tend to only be helpful when selling the car

Service Manager has given me a few things but I usually drop off a bottle of champers for him and a case of beer for the mechs each Christmas

I have a 118.... Love it and hate it all at once... Hard to explain but if I was trying to be unbiased I'd say I bought a lemon, but the stubborn side comes out in me and I say its a great car. I wouldn't do it all again though, I'd spend the extra 5-7k and get a GTI.

My service manager is a chick and does not look like Megan Fox haha but she is worth her weight in gold.

Not trying to stir the pot here but is anyone still buying Mk6 Gtis?

They're still a good car and the current deals are competitive but you're going to take an absolute bath on the re-sale in 1 year's time when Mk7's start rolling in and the Mk6 is naturally falling behind in standard equipment etc.

Brand new, for sure. But I think dealers will try to make deals as the mk7 approaches.
Remember the mk7 gti isn't out for at least 12-18 mths, in fact it's only the base mk7 that's releasing next yr.
It's like anything, people that buy a 2010 model new always get hosed when the 2011 comes out. Options and std equip are neither here nor there unless its a huge discrepancy

We don't have word on pricing from VWA yet, but there's no doubt that the Mk7 GTI will be sold in Australia. It's a huge seller, and VW would be crazy to drop it from the lineup.

Hi a new basic petrol manual Golf is about $21k, and a diesel about $31k.

Why is the diesel 50% more expensive please?

The cheapest diesel hatch is (now) the Golf Bluemotion, with quite a bit of funky high-efficiency / low emissions technology, and is of a higher general specification than the base petrol model, so you're not comparing otherwise-identical cars.

The old 77TDI Trendline hatch model has been dropped. And even this was of a higher spec than the base petrol Golf.

What would be a fair price now on an R?

I've been quoted 55k on a demo MY12 (1000km on the clock) Rising Blue, RNS510.
or 58K on a brand new MY13 (ETA december) Black R, with RNS510

I don't particularly want the RNS510 as I'll be putting a Zenec in anway. And I would like leather (sales guy just keeps carrying on about aftermarket leather).

I love Rising Blue, but Black would be best as it's a company vehicle and will get signage, etc.

I was told last week that the factory isn't taking orders, but that could have been a white lie to get rid of current stock.

FYI, for anyone negotiating on a new GTI, I just picked up a deep black MY13 GTI DSG with reverse camera, parking sensors, Detroits, roof, tint and mats for $39,400 on VW Corporate.

Do you qualify for Corporate Plus teflon? Best I could get from a Perth dealer without Corporate Plus was ~$41.5K (5-door Deep Black DSG with reverse camera, parking sensors, Detroits, roof, tint and mats) so I reckon the extra $2K came off because of Corporate Plus entitlement. Either way, go back and negotiate a little harder esp since you're a repeat customer!

Odd question, they are going to less than a new car just because of lower on roads, if you mean depreciation then that is more of a market forces situation.

I just picked up a white MY13 5 door DSG with Detroits for $42,700 on road. I ended up saving $6400 which I was pretty happy with. Unfortunately I couldn't get any other options as there just weren't any other cars available. I'm fine with that though as it has all the gear I really need.

I was also told it was at least a year wait for the MK7 GTI and I couldn't wait that long.

Hi All, my wife currently has a Golf VI but loves the Cabriolet after having it as a loan car after a recent service. I notice the current Golf promotion does not include the Cabriolet, but I think she qualifies for Corporate Plus. Any suggestions for dealers to check out and pricing, as she enquired at Camberwell (where the car is serviced), but they weren't all that helpful?

Don't know how you guys got some of those great deals over in WA!
Unfortunately I don't have corporate plus benefits and despite buying a Tiguan as well I don't think I will be able to do much better than 41.5K driveaway for a GTI DSG in carbon steel with carpet floor mats. As Brash said, I'm also limited by the vehicles available... tried to get Detroits but they'd have to get a vehicle from interstate. Going to try another dealer who has a Carbon Steel with Detroits in stock... otherwise may have to settle for the 17s.

Edit: Finally settled on 41.5K for carbon steel and DSG. Managed to get floor mats, door sill protectors and the boot liner thrown in at least. Best I could do in SA without corporate discount.

I'm trying to take advantage of the current 1.5% deal to pick up a golf convertible. I am after a certain combination of colour and options, and also want to pay 40K for it. I'm a bit flexible but as of yet the right things haven't appeared together at my price point, new. There's a bunch of near new or demo ones that match up but you can't get the 1.5% finance on those.
One of my required options is the RNS510. Would I be better getting the one I want with everything I want except the RNS and fitting one purchased separately? I feel it might be a pain to then fit the reverse camera, bluetooth etc, but if I dropped the factory fitted RNS there's a couple of cars on offer at the moment.

My GTI had the RCD510 from the factory along with Bluetooth and reverse camera. no issues switching to an rns510 although there's no voice control without rewiring the Bluetooth cable which I haven't done.

All three can be retro fitted after. The Bluetooth is not part of the unit. The only media difference between a RCD and RNS is the RNS has a hard drive and can play DVD (which will only work while parked if its factory fitted unless you do the mod later). And camera is easy if you follow the many threads posted on hear

Carsales at the moment shows a few available for $40k in base spec. Next interesting one is $41,400 with leather, then it's a jump to around $43,000 with sat navigation. Of course these are advertised and without bargaining :)
This is why I'm thinking of just buying a rns later as i'm thinking I could probably buy and install for about $1800 including camera.

Just a word from experience, .. Leather and convertibles are not a great match.. I have an MX5 with Leather, you get your arse burnt if you leave the top down for any length of time

Most people I know with verts just throw a cover (sheet etc) over seats when they leave the car if the top is down, back in the car, take the cover off and all good.

Never mind the seats, travel with the top down in QLD at the moment and you would end up with sunstroke in a very short time.

I remember when I went to Hawaii and hired a Mustang convertible ( as you do) 20 mins and we had to put the top up as sunburn was setting in already.

Nothing like a tin top and aircon.

Just spent two weeks in Vegas and Arizona and same applies.
