Transporting car from QLD to VIC - any good leads or tips of car carriers?

    Hey all,

I'll probably have to transport my car from QLD to VIC in a few weeks. Just wondering if anyone has used a good carrier company that charges reasonable rates or knows how much I should be paying. I'm getting quotes around $500 at the moment.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Rhys

500 sounds abouts right. i've heard around 300 from melb to syd, so i reckon 500 is on the money.

thanks for all the input guys, will make a few more calls. Auto Logistics seem to be pretty competitively priced, but with car carriers I suppose you can expect to get what you pay for. Might end up having to drive as all places require the car to be more than 15cm from the ground, mine certainly is not that. I whereis'd it and I reckon I could get there in about 17.5-18 hours anyway, a lot better than the 23 hours it used to take years ago.

With the roadworks and traffic its 19hrs (including stops) from Brisbane, Rhys. I did it in March for the F1 GP. Also go the Pacific rather than inland as out of the 1900km, 1500km is dual lane highway @ 110km/h.

Well I've decided roadtrip it is. Leaving at about 2.30am so should arrive in Melb at about 8-8:30pm that night. I'll beat a lot of traffic leaving early in the morning and coming into Melb at night too, which should help my time a lot.

Thanks Johan, the inland road (Newell Hwy) used to be quicker back in the day but I've been told the coast road (M1) is now a lot quicker thanks to all the road upgrades over the years. Other advantages are I can pack my car up with all my stuff, where using a carrier won't even let you leave pens in the car. Also, they take at least 7-9 business days to deliver the car, that's about 2 weeks without a car. Stuff that.

    Cheers for the input everyone.
