VW GOLF GTi MK5 COIL SPRINGS for MK6 Golf

    Hey everyone,

I need another help. I saw this on eBay and was tempted. VW GOLF GTi MK5 COIL SPRINGS - eBay Coil Springs, Suspension, Steering, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 27-Apr-10 07:36:23 AEST)

Will these coil springs fit my mk6 golf? Even if they do. Do you think it's a good idea? Thanks

there's a guy in VWGolf.net.au selling his coils and struts from A Mk5 Pirelli, $200.

    I'd consider that

    I believe they will indeed.....

Been researching this same train of thought myself lately.
The range is far greater for the Mk5 and the main floor structure is pretty much unchanged for the Mk6.
From what I've found out, all the improvements to handling etc have been to the shocks/struts and springs, not the mounting points...

Prices don't seem to be any cheaper, but if you see some Mk5 stuff on sale...grab it.
Not 100% sure on sway-bars, but they should fit also....(???)

MK5 springs dont fit MK6. edit - Fronts are completely different

Some coilovers will work, but only if they have a good shock length / spring height range.

Sway Bars do fit, just need to pay attention to the spacing height on the front.

    Well there ya go...thanks Guy.

I'm glad you cleared that up for me....giving out false information is not something I wish to be remembered for....

Really pleased I hadn't got to the ordering stage too....would have been some cheap Mk5 bits available from me...
Information is only helpful if it's accurate..........

The front springs have a totally different length & the shock is different - the rear is pretty much the same. we managed to make our MKV coilovers work in the 6 OK & the sway bars too, but I know the first GTI 6 done with springs in Sydney, they had the same problem (three different sets tried before they got it right!).
