hey orient express, nice personalisation on your gti!

there'll always be naysayers and quite frankly, outspoken people when it comes to anything. i think the red grill inserts are unique, and in spite of what people have said, there'll be plenty of folks here in a year's time who'll be paying hundreds to buy something like your grill from an online store because ''i wanted to do something unique and different with the gti to set it apart from the GAJILLION gti's you see being driven on australian roads by professional single-still-renting business women and corporate jockey wannabees"

as for the wheels- that's subjective, and at a glance, arent they pretty similar to the gti pirelli wheels?

sure, you could have "bling" wheels (or, god forbid, a set of BBS CH or RS) just like a million other people with apr downpipe, remap, exhaust, and KW V3's, but you've got a garage full of euro cars, including what looks like to be a carrera cabriolet. understated/sensible seems right up your alley.

    nice work

Loving the mods of your GTI. It looks unique, and I think it's a great way to individualise YOUR car in the way that YOU want.

And you live in of the best cities in the world. You're practically living my life! (What with the red GTI and all).

Man some of you guys down there are brutal, but then again I understand that being from prisoner stock makes you prickly Oh well, all in good fun. But as I said the Mk4 Golf, GTI and R32 were the best of the breed Golf chassis, not the most reliable, but never the less the Mk4 set the standard to which all small sports sedans are measured.

Now those of you that are quick to point out lameness, then may I draw your attention to the Mk5 with its honeycomb grill and a body that looks like it is about ready to fall over.

no offense, but didn't think you can make the front grill even more ugly! I'm not the biggest MK6 fan (in terms of looks), but that modification just doesn't look right to me.

BUT as long as you are happy, its all good.

Don't worry, lack of female contact can make them bitchy.

Gee, what a welcome for the new guy.

I think what you've done to the grill is pretty neat, actually. Makes the front look sharper and more aggressive.

I like the look you are going for man...It looks very slick, but I'm not sold on the wheels...Just me though.

Don't worry about the haters, at the end of the day its your hard earned you are spending...Love your other rides too!!

You did ask for opinions (and you certainly got some). And as usual, people with a problem with something seem to be more motivated to comment than those that are happy.

As long as YOU like it that's all that counts I think it would be interesting to see what it looked like with red strakes on the bottom side intakes (the red would contrast well with the black behind them)

As an aside, in the VW TDI world the number of red letters in the "TDI" badge indicates the power level. So an all chrome TDI badge tells the knowledgable that this particular car (or van) has the least powerful TDI engine, a red I indicates it has a little more power, and the all red TDI badge says you plonked down the cashola for the fastest available (TDI) engine (like on my Transporter ). Of course an all red badge is hard to see on a red car, so that might not be the end result you want.

You're entitled to an opinion Dermot.

As for you mentioning your opposition, since when has a low quality car such as a Citroen been competition to VW?! lol
