D2 coilovers

Hi all,

Currently I have only H&R lowered springs fitted to the stock suspension on my GTI and was thinking of upgrading to coilovers. In particular the D2 set. Anyone heard of these or have them fitted to their car? I've done a search but could not find many threads. I won't be tracking the car very often. Maybe once in a year. I'm more interested in improving handling and further lowering.

Are coilovers hard to live with? I take the train to and from work so my car only gets driven mostly on the weekends.

If not D2 coilovers can anyone else suggest some other decent brand? My budget is $2K including fitting.

hi,
i was going to get a set for my previous car. thus i did fair a bit of research on it.

D2 are taiwanese made. good quality coil, fully adjustible.

but they mainly do jap cars. not too sure if they hav been tested extensively in our pog. which i doublt it, coz there are only a handful of polo gti in taiwan.

u can pick up a set just over 1k, good value for money.

Not to knock the Taiwanese but they aren't exactly known for their world class manufacturing quality....I could be wrong in this case.

Hmmmm having second thoughts now. Might do some more research.

hi mate, i got a quote for H&R coilovers from pedders $1900 but i have no idea what they feel like i took a holiday instead of buying them

that quote was for a 08 Polo GTI

if you can get h&r's for 1900 thats a great price. highly recommended from me, i have them in my mk5. not hard to live with at all and i have them on the lowest setting and do 30000k's a year

What about HotTuining coilovers... A member on here sells them for $950 a set if you after something cheap

I got a set in my TDI and it makes the track feel VERY VERY nice, very flat through the corners

A very good buy I thought.

I briefly looked into this a while ago and concluded that for the price, its not worth the risk of associated troubles. Some ppl say they are a great coilover, good buil etc and have had 0 problems but reading on diff forums some ppl have had numerous warranty claims, bent shocks, camber mounts breaking and there are reports of even snapped shocks (on a trackday/drift session).

I know everyone raves and rants about hottunings but if ur like me, then i would spend the extra money to get a good set of coilovers and not sacrifice ride quality.
