Ben: Not sure about others, but I don't judge forum member's motives when posting on this forum (except those that want to support the theft of Mr Ross's intellectual property by buying cheap rip-off cables).

But as Adam has said, Ross Tech cables aren't compatible with VIM units! If you want to explore these types of tweaks, you will need to investigate VCP (i.e. VAG CAN Professional) cables

Ha! thanks Don and I agree! I've sent the VCP guys an email asking for more information. This looks like the only option for the discover pro units. This VIM hing is turning into the gauge sweep issue I'm having...something about not being able to have it is driving me crazy regardless of why or not! This isn't what my wife had in mind when we decided to get rid of the bug so I could quit spending time in the garage!

    Thanks,
    Ben

    Don,

What would be the leuchte channel for the indicators? I've established "dimmwert" is the brightness level of the lamps, and have noticed that the outboard ones are on 100 and the inside are likely on 28.

Also - I think the reasoning between the NAR GTI and the AU-R being so different, in terms of rear lights, is because the NAR GTI has halogen rear lights (with no option of LEDs).

Jazrod : The Leuchte set for the rear indicators are the 19 x adaptation channels commencing with the following:
    Left Rear Indicator (1)-Leuchte18BLK HLA60-Lasttyp 18
    Right Rear Indicator (1)-Leuchte19BLK HRC31-Lasttyp 19

But the Leuchte set for the "inner" rear lamps are the 19 x channels commencing with the following
    Left Rear Lamp (inner) (1)-Leuchte23SL HLC10-Lasttyp 23
    Right Rear Lamp (inner) (1)-Leuchte24SL HRA65-Lasttyp 24

Not sure about your comment on the NAR model versus our own vehicles. The real difference for their Halogen fittings (IMO) is that the yanks don't have a separate indicator lamp on their rear tail-light assemblies. Their regulations (called DOT- I think) use the outer lamp as a general catch-all (i.e. as Brake/Blinker/Parker).
    Cheers

Seeing as we are getting a few people now with DAP2, It would be interesting if we could find the coding differences between cars with DAP v1 and DAP v2. Of course I know the functions won't work without the mirrors with the indicators, but just wondering about the coding possibilities so if someone were to purchase these mirrors, could a possible retrofit be in the works?? :O

Ryan: I've re-read the DAP2 thread and there appears to be some conjecture whether the front camera (which VW calls R242) will be included in the new version albeit there seems to be no issue about adaptive cruise control.

I understand that VW supplies adaptive cruise control in two versions: those that use the front view camera in conjunction with the front radar unit (J428 ) and those that only have the radar.

Here's a pic of the connector for the J428 module showing the camera connections (see pins 5 & 6) but these pins are not always populated (I understand).

From VW's written material, it seems that the addition of the front view camera data into adaptive cruise control adds an extra dimension in that the camera is able to provide some form of object recognition to the decision making algorithm (i.e. in addition to just radar information). The result is a much more discerning product that is able to (better) distinguish objects like wind-swept plastic bags from real cars. But will the DAP2 include the camera?

If the R242 is fitted in Australia, there lots of extra possibilities for VCDS tweaks - just have to wait and see

Hi, my 103TSI is with DAP2 and there is no camera behind the rear view mirror, under the rain light sensor. I did not think there would be another location where it would be there.

@MRG_AU could you take a photo of your radar in your front grille ?
I'd like to compare it to mine and see if it's the same. I've seen a few variations of this front radar on euro cars where it looks like a gloss circle in the middle of the square, where mine is just flat. I have a feeling it could possibly be something for either lane assist for the dynamic lighting system for Bi-Xenons (auto high beam). Seeing as Aus even in DAP2 doesn't have either function, I wonder if we have the same front radar ?

VCDS (VAG-COM) codes and programmable options for Golf Mk7

    Here it is

I don't know much about VW's but my Q5 uses the front camera under the rear view mirror for adaptive light assist, basically if it detects non litup area it switches on high beams and either cars or lit up roads detected then low beams. Also used for lane assist.
