    All manufacturers soften their temp gauges nowadays.

    I have recorded coolant temp as high as 104c and the gauge will still show 90c (MK3/4) - pretty much the same results

    Yep. Just make sure the plate you weld in sits in line with the outer edge of the fork, other wise will contact pressure plate when fully depressed.

    clutch pedal effort/weight

    Iíd reinforce the clutch fork while itís all out.

    Iíve snapped one on a stock clutch kit before.

    Itís easy to do with a welder and some steel.
