VW don’t do the euro style hitches in Australia. Only Skoda does them officially.

1.4L engine is an interesting, but fragile beast. Unless you can source a second-hand engine for a reasonable price, then I'd say the vehicle is destined for end-of-life.

Wouldn't that model have a variable output alternator? Alternator output will likely vary by quite a large amount depending on the load applied to the battery.

Take a wheel off and look - load rating should be cast into the back of one of the spokes.

190nm is the equivalent of hanging 190kg off the end of a 1m long lever - so yeah very very tight.
