Haven't made an update in a while as I wasn't really doing anything other than driving it until a few weeks ago when my water pump decided to die. First time doing a timing belt & water pump job and...
I'm yet to do my timing belt (still waiting on a few parts) but isn't there a retaining pin on the hydraulic tensioner which prevents this?
RPF1's really suit it. Looks awesome, congrats!
Yeh it's a perfect size, and I picked it up for $50 delivered lol. A great deal when compared to anything else in that price range. Plenty enough for my setup too.
Ah interesting, the plan is to get all black interior so this won't be used but maybe I'll have it in a display cabinet with my other parts! :)
A parcel from Germany arrived today. A brand new set of Hella RCCR's. It took 3 months for it to arrive but it was well worth the wait.
The seller also threw in some cool rear interior lights which...
More goodies have arrived! First we've got a MK3 VR6 housing (thanks to Seb from Euro Revolution -- more goodies to come). It'll be temporary but it's required for my tune which I'll be running for a...
Lol that's pretty interesting. Been wanting to get a magnetic sump plug for a while now, definitely gonna do that now :D
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Currently it's still running on the stock ECU but I'm about to go stand-alone. Just figuring out how I'll be doing everything (as I try to do everything myself).
I'm...
Thanks :) Coolerworx shifter is all good now! Just had to mess about with the screws and keep adjusting the reverse lockout.
I didn't know about the little black pin on the gearbox itself, but I did...
Today I picked my car up from the fabrication shop (Wide Open Fabrication in WA, awesome bloke!). Some good and also bad (?) news.
I have never taken off the front bumper under my ownership so the...
The Littco L280 TIP is huge, I had no choice but to cut the metal coolant pipe that was in the way and instead used some hose.

After that issue was tackled, all that was left was to do was...
I've progressed a bit further into the build. Unfortunately I just don't have much time but I try to get a few hours of wrenching when I can.
The new turbo is in alongside the ported manifold....
Yeah I'm definitely not DIY'ing them. Maybe if they were some cheap wheels but I don't want to risk it.
Can't tell you how the coolerworx shifter is so far as the car is still on stands but it...
Some more progress! Today I removed the downpipe, the intake and intercooler piping to the turbo. The turbo is nearly removed with the top exhaust manifold bolts out and only the bottom ones left...
Thanks Michael, I appreciate it :)
Some more updates. I've drained the coolant system and started installing the coolant flanges, thermostat + housing etc;. I've also taken off the intake manifold...
I had some free time to get another part installed and this time it was a fuel pump. I'm not shooting for crazy power so I decided to stick with an OEM unit so I got a brand new Pierburg unit for a...
A few days ago my parcel from Japan arrived. Been waiting for about 2 months now but it's well worth the wait!

First up we've got a set of stubby mirrors with blue tinted...
Hello, this is my 2003 MK4 Golf GTI. It is my first car and something I don't plan on selling... unless someone were to offer a GT3RS . It was purchased on the 29th of May, 2020 with around...
Nah, it was definitely set to 100nM, I've got a fancy GearWrench torque wrench so I'm certain on that ;)
Definitely the correct length bolts, they were ordered from the dealer and the part...
I'm aware of that, I should of noted, I didn't re-use the bolts. I bought brand new OEM bolts.
I installed a new transmission mount and snapped two bolts (#3 in the diagram).

The Bentley repair manual mentions that the bolt is to be torqued to 100nm. I didn't even get to 70nm before it...
Could be an option, I'll think about it. Thanks :)
Yeah the shape is a perfect fit. I assume it's just wiring based on the one (very outdated and broken pictures) thread I read.
What other alternatives are there? I just had the S3 cluster so I...
Hello, so I've got a Audi S3 first gen cluster (96-03) and I was wondering what the process is for fitting it in a MK4 Golf. Has anyone been through this? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
