I'm performing the clutch delay valve removal (removed the orifice in the clutch bleeding block). I was having trouble bleeding, and then it popped off the nipple coming out of the transmission side....
It was the thermostat. $500 later the water temp is back to 90, and oil now around 88 degrees.
Much better! And the fan is no longer running when I switch the car off
My MY13 golf R has been showing an oil temp (on the electronic dash within the menu), of about 109-111 degrees.
And also recently, the water temp gauge on the dash has moved from its usual 90, to...
Managed all 5 of the APR runs/rounds tonight.
Car actually felt OK unfortunately, so I may need to redo when it's feeling a bit worse.
Although I rarely redline my car so hard have good judgement...
Hmmm so 4th gear is looking like jail speeds
A non-public rd would be great, otherwise it's looking like 3rd.
My hunch is knock sensors at this stage.
The SMF I had put in when this...
4th gear, what's that 140km/hr at redline?
Bit tricky doing that on a road that you can't scope for cops hiding though. Would prefer a stretch where I can loop a U-turn with both sides visible....
I've tried changing who I've used for fuel and no difference.
Today it was cool again, but ran like a dog, so doesn't seem to be air temp affected.
I've now got a ross-tech cable and will be doing...
Yeah it looks like it's out around 8 degrees at WOT on the plots above, I presume that's significant?
Any recommendations for people in Sydney? From memory you're down south a bit (you had a stab...
Hey all,
I have issues with my golf R underperforming of late.
It seems to be when the air temp is at or above 25 degrees, under load the car feels like a dog on the freeway in 4th/5th W.O.T,...
Have you checked them out?
For me this would come down to price, and comparative condition of cars.
Although that's almost a difference in 50,000 clicks!
I recently picked up a MY13 manual with...
Is it resonated? Take to a shop and you might be able to get them to put in a resonator or a better resonator etc. Shouldn't cost too much.
Hey all,
I had an NPC SMF clutch put in my MK6 Golf R a few months ago.
Originally I had wanted a DMF as I didn't like the old rattle sound at idle in my MK4 gti with the lightweight SM flywheel....
Was leaving work for the day on Thurs and when depressing the clutch, it went back with a snap/crunch and was stuck to the floor.
I couldn't see the damage apart from a plastic clip that fell to the...
Hey all,
Long time not posting...
Thursday driving to work in my MKIV '03 gti i noticed a funny sound and a sublte reverberation at low rpms (~2000rpms).
After half an hour of driving it got...
Made a little vid the other day, suppose something inspired me?

OK cheers for the advice. Sounds expensive to register in Germany, but I'll check out those sites when I get closer.
Anyone have more information on buying elsewhere in Europe other than the UK and...

I've been on the rd for 9 months using public transport across asia, and am almost in Europe (Georgia atm).
I'm focusing on photography (see sig), and want some more freedom to go where i want, when...

Actually just updated with photos from Laos
regarding UV lenses, i'd go against what has been said. I used them for around the first 4 or so years since i got into photography.
They tend to be more of a nuisance than anything. For example,...
ahh, didn't think of that. I actually noticed this did happen in 2nd gear earlier tonight, so maybe the other times it was happening in 2nd gear also.
can't believe VW claim they don't have a fix...
thanks i'll have a read of it, though this appears to be from a stand still (effectively neutral), to the actual engageing of D1, not D2.
Maybe still the same issue though
I was driving the family golf VI tsi (the base model), and I found the clutch seems to occasionally "shudder" as though the electronics are sending conflicting signals to it.
It happens usually when...
