Long time since last update.
Have had the timing chain replaced.
Now rebuilding the vacuum pump which is leaking oil from the top of the engine.
Bought a rebuild gasket kit from USA looks...
Thanks for that. I have read the latest version of the VW seal is significantly different from the original with an inward facing lip.
Also - are the any OEM timing chain kit providers in...
New rear wheel bearings and now silence has returned to the car. The drone was unbelievably bad above 60kmh.
Quite easy and did not have to remove any suspension components to get at the bolts...
Thanks - all very simple and easy so far mainly because of the excellent how-to internet info and videos available on YouTube.
Yes you need to be very careful with all such oil fill&drain bolts...
As long as you are carefully tapping or vacuuming or blowing the dirt off the filter surface and not pushing deeper in what can possibly be the problem?

Yes that’s literally all that’s left as new tyres, all oils changed and no worn bearings. Either the muffler has collapsed or the coupling as you suggest.
It’s a speed related drone rather than...
Coolant if pink OAT style is 7 years
Brake is 3 years
PS is 5-7 years if you have it as the Tiguan is electric

All filters work better and better as they ‘block’ right up to the point they are too blocked. On a truck the air filter will be replaced when intake suction exceeds a maximum level not to an...
Cabin filter I find annually is even too frequent. Like the air filter you can give these a tap or blow the dust off and get 2 years if your not doing huge kms or arduous conditions.

Now thinking the drone is exhaust related. Does the rear muffler ever have problems in these to cause a drone noise?
Have now changed ATF and filter. Got just over 4 new litres of Toyota T-IV into...
Now with all oils changed, new tyres and wheel alignment still have a droning warbling road noise from rear tyre area when driving.
Is this normal maybe? Wheel bearings are ok.
Suspect a small...
Thank you greatly Hillbilly

Can anyone tell me if a full size spare wheel will fit in the spare wheel space or is it space saver only?

Engine oil and both diff oils changed today - both surprisingly easy jobs.
Last but not least is the ATF. Then every fluid will be new.

I’m very keen to hear the update on this?

Sorry yes you did, my bad. Seems not too hard and the way to go.

Remove and replace yourself could save some money.

Yep it happens a lot
First, remove globe from engine bay side and run a hair dryer on low into headlight assembly to totally dry out condensation. You may find that reseating the globes creates a...
Good luck and now is the time to try because once you performance modify it I’m sure warranty will be void.

Yep they are good guys and know this problem perfectly and how to fix it properly (not cutting corners). I have a 125kw petrol with 155k km and they will do it soon.
I would also get them to...
Absolutely! No service history is a definite concern as how do you apply a warranty if there is no history of the correct maintenance ever being done? The warranty would have a quick escape clause. ...
OMG be very very afraid and run don’t walk your car to a specialist VW expert shop immediately! They will plug it into a computer and read the amount of timing delay caused by chain stretch.
I...
Nice!
Actually, that’s the problem. It’s not supposed to need maintenance being a chain drive *but* early 09-13 models were built with two Achilles Heels.
1) a faulty chain tensioner that can...
Me too! What spec and how many kms? If petrol maybe check your timing chain and tensioner condition. They probably should be changed.
I’d be too scared to boost power before spending a little of...
To remove this tricky part I was ready with the screw and washer trick as you describe. I had the new filter assembly so could check the perfect screw size for the job in advance.
In the end I...
