Thanks for the E85 tip Lucas-R.
Yes the noise is only there for 1-1.5 seconds but this is an "automatic " gearbox and given the strife with the twin charge setup in the Mk6 I would expect they would...

The MK7 90TSI is different, the waterpump is driven by a small toothed belt from the camshaft at the other end of the motor my service schedule does not recommend a time or mileage to replace it . ...
Applied it about 10 months ago and it is still quiet, I plan on doing it again in December when the next service is due.
This is the stuff I used on my Mk7 Golf. Spray on some cloth and wiped around the rubber seals and also were the seal touched the paint...worked a treat....
For those that have this fault and are not part of the recall this aftermarket repair may be a cost effective solution (if it's the same problem listed in the recall)

I had my 2013 MK7 golf serviced in mid December and they reported the battery at 66% efficiency, no rush come back after Xmas,

I quickly found out that most battery...

I had similar issues with a '97 Volvo 850 ( which had similar ATE abs as my Mk4 Golf).
There was a small connector for the pump which was easily removed and I hooked up

Interesting....the www is littered with problems with MK7 OEM wipers and the solution was to change to Bosch Aerotwins.
Wiper Judder - Experiment - VW Golf R MK7 Chat - VW R Owners Club

As per the title I purchased a pair of Aerotwins 6 months ago from the UK (unavailable from Bosch OZ) and they initially worked OK for a few months although had that dry rubbery squeegee sound with...
Most definitely get the clutch pack done as you will get the latest issue with upgraded larger spigot bearing, actuating lever, friction material and an additional 2 year warranty on the work.
Can't help with any dismantling hints but I just had mine fixed as a a warranty problem.
Service advisor reckons they have had a few were they come off the tracks. Mine had been in the open position...
