Howdy,
I have a 2006 T5 LWB which has had the lifted Seikel suspension in it since 2014. A few years ago I started to get some clicking from the front CVs when turning hard and putting some load...
I can't help, but I'm following with interest.
The CVs were aftermarket. CVs not up to spec does make sense given my setup does push them to their extreme. The LCAs and bushes are also aftermarket. It's entirely possible that the bushes have more...
Another peice of the puzzle....turning up hill, as I get toward full lock and it starts clicking, the steering also really loads up. Pretty sure it didn't always do that. What could cause that to...
Will do mate, appreciate it. :)
Not sure. My mechanic did that job and all I know is they sent them to a drive shaft specialist is rocklea.
Hmm, so I think mine are on their way out. For...
Interesting. I think next week I'll need to pull it apart and have a look at these stub splines.
Appreciate the suggestion!
So my VW T5 4-motion has been lifted about 30mm and runs some larger all terrains. It's fairly well known that you'll wear out your CVs a bit faster with the steeper angles they run at.
Over the...
Yeah! Not looking forward to the day I need to use it! :0
It certainly would be nice to have a better solution.
I managed to squeeze my spare (same size as yours) into the spare wheel well, it's just not easy. I needed to deflate the tire and I had to jack it into place with my trolley jack. It is possible...
Re pressures, I run around 48 front 44 rear to get an even wear pattern.
I've now put 35k km on the Pirellis and love them. They probably have another 10 - 15 k in them. Super quiet, grippy and well behaved on road and have taken some solid abuse off road in their stride....
Awesome to see all of these other lifted big wheeled T5s popping up! Also happy to see the king spring option works well. I would have much preferred to have done that than drop the coin I did on the...
NFI how easy the conversion would be, but do keep us updated if you go ahead with this!
No worries mate, best to take it easy! Ground clearance with the Seikel kit really isn't an issue in these things, so I don't think you'll miss the couple of mm smaller diameter with the smaller...
Sorry, it's been a bit of a mad week. There might be some time this arvo. I'll let you know.
Cheers. Justin.
MAD: I fly back to Aus tomorrow. I should be able to get those measurements for you next week.
First question, don't worry about losing any power with the larger wheels and tires. It really doesn't make the much of a different. Noticeable....yes. But it's not much.
On tire sizing, it's not...
I'm not sure that the shocks provided in the Seikel kit have any more stroke to them than the stockers. My advice would be, if they do have some extra stroke, you do want every bit of it. It isn't...
My T5 4-motion has done most of those things.....except jumping it that high! Though it has been unintentionally airborne over the sand bars on the beach a few times. :)
Love it! A few tasty bits there with the sakuras and the tomei rocker rover. :)
And just love the over all look!
More importantly, more details on what's in your garage? :D
1200?
Oh yeah, I was briefly back home last weekend and took the van up to Teewah and DI. Worst outing for the van EVER. To date I'd only ever got it stuck once, this trip I must have dug it out at least...
Hey guys, sorry for the late response! I'm working overseas at the moment and it's rather hectic. :-/
I won't be home again for another month or so. Happy to post up the measurements for you then.

The Seikel gear set is just way way too expensive for me to justify it. If it can do what I've done with it so far.....I really don't need it. It won't get pushed any harder. Maybe one day if I build...
Just got my hands on the one video from outside the van at Sundown. Naturally the one time I stalled it in the entire trip was when the camera was on me! :D
I could have a should have saved that...
