I keep a log of my Yeti 103 DSG consumption. Currently, using the AC most of the time, it's averaging 6.55L/100km calculated at the pump. That's higher than it used to be[6.2] but I drive it harder...
You would have to assume that they don't and only work on the carbon, otherwise the DPF would never need replacing because it's blocked with ash.
The ash might be reduced by a cleaner combustion...
Just looked it up and it looks like a good car and another example of why buy a diesel these days?
If it's worth doing, the sooner the better. I have read and experienced enough to convince myself but it's up to everyone to make their own choice.
I like diesels for the torque and economy....
I'm surprised you aren't using 2SO as I would imagine that most who do use it are doing so for the very reasons you mention. Not just for any immediate benefits but also as a long term insurance...
What issues are there with the HPFP that you were concerned enough to ask?
What mods would you suggest for the Ariel Atom that was losing it in the corners trying to keep up?
The 1.2 manual Yeti I test drove impressed with it's handling and smooth power from a small engine but what impressed me most was how incredibly quiet that engine was.
Thanks for your feedback. I also had the Triton 2.5TD, the same engine as yours but the base model without the larger VV turbo.
Mine was in the ML single cab GLX with rwd. Same as you I started...
I had no idea you could get anything like that without accessing the ECU.
How difficult are the cam and boost connections to get at? I know where the fuel rail one is.
Good luck with the testing...
I had one of the first GTS 86 manuals and sold it for practical reasons. The handling was sublime and other cars felt ponderous to drive by comparison. For some reason I spotted the Yeti and drove 2...
Greg, when you say piggy back tuning box do you mean something that needs to be tuned on the dyno or one of the plug n play chip versions?
Your idea is the best solution. Good luck with it and if it works the engineers who design this stuff should get a kick up the arse for not doing that in the first place.
We need an additive that can break down the particles that accumulate in the DPF.
That one would be worth buying.
Perhaps it could be added just before the DPF via a dedicated access point to...
That one is a bit small for adding 2T at 1:200 but would work for petrol engines using 1:600
This is the sort I use. This one is empty but the level shows clearly with oil in it and it lasts for...
I've used 2 stroke oil in my diesels for years and have never had any fuel related problems. Just the usual positive results, quieter, smoother, better MPG and hopefully the main goal of longer...
That's what I should do too but I've been using it for so long it would feel as if I was harming the engine not to add it.
Next time I fill up I'll try to leave it out.
That's still a 4% improvement in economy which might be from cleaner injectors?
You aren't tempted to carry on using it?
Also, Brad is using a fully synthetic oil which only reduced the MON by about 10% of the amount the mineral oil changed it by. When you reduce that by the 1/20th of the quantity it becomes...
Here's another post where they measured the sound reduction.
6th post down.
"He gave me the green light and said it couldn't hurt anything at a 200:1 ratio so I purchased some Activ T2...
3.68L/100km is insane driving in that region!
We're way off topic but if you ever start a thread on driving for economy or post to an existing one, let me know because I would be very interested...
Leaner is a possibility then. People have reported more power but few, if any have mentioned less power. I would have thought leaning the mixture wouldn't increase the power unless they are all...
Here's an interesting post on reduced sound levels after adding 2SO.
As you might have noticed, i'm halfway though the posts. One point that comes up on a regular basis is the reduction or...
A fair number of diesel owners have them, especially if they tow or up the power. When my Triton 2.5CRD was modified for a while, the intercooler temp would go through the roof when I stomped on it....
