They should be able to pull this time data from GPS.
Same issue as everyone else, Manual gets over written.
I've set it New Caledonia (GMT+11), see what happens when I start it in the morning.

I did this, I think there's a bug in the GUI.
If I remember you need to select "Driving on the Right first", then select "Driving on the Left" for it to remember the setting.
Finally worked out how to change it!
Some comments from Deutsche Auto Parts, US MK8 golf about the interior and lack of buttons.

Yes I've had some issues.
Rear camera flashes sometimes, about 3 times I've had the Air-con go into a simple mode were I think it has lost connection to the headunit, once I lost Audio. All of these...
I've had my MK8 GTI for 6months now.
Pretty much agree with what Cyberman posted about the controls/head unit.
All the reviewers use it for 10mins don't like it and complain - after a couple of...
When I do a ODBeleven scan it says it's running a DLBA version Engine, so that does look like the previous GTI PP 7.5 engine.
Running at 950 rpm it has this weird pull when you try and stop slowly...
Took it to VW Service, they had another MK8 and it was also idling at 950rpm.
So this looks like normal operation.
Interesting that they're running it this high.
Interesting temporary fix to stop the reverse camera from flashing by adjusting the Brightness or contrast:-

Had a look with ODB11 yesterday - tested after driving for 40mins.
Idling in Normal drive mode - 950 rpm
Idling in Sport mode - 1100 rpm
Idling in Neutral - 800...
I have had it sitting on a flat driveway idling and it has dropped to around 700-800 rpm after a while.
But when driving it seems to stay around 1000rpm - I think it's 970 on my ODB11 dongle....
Just wondering if anyone else that has a MK8 Golf GTI can tell me what speed their car idles at after it was warmed up and stopped at traffic lights for example.

My GTI also does this, I've had it black out completely.
I think there's some documentation of this issue overseas also.
Also had this with my MK8 GTI, think there's a UI issue in the menu. Selected it de-selected it and haven't had the issue.
Time on mine was also wrong, just changed it manually.
I've done a full...
That fixed it thanks.
Thought I'd tried that but obviously didn't completely turn it off.
I've got a MK8 GTI and it took me a couple of days on and off to read the paper manual it came with.
It's much better reading and being able to search a PDF version.

VRJ - you can see what version you're running by holding down the Menu key for a few seconds:-
It should show "Service Menu"

Here's a picture of my finished PCB with components.
You can see it's fairly small compared to the 20cent piece.

Don't know if it's my imagination but it looks like the screen resolution is better with the latest AA update (1.4.097607) - especially when running maps and fine detail.
I've been using a 2 year old Nexus 5 and didn't notice any lag or touch issues on the screen.
Just bought a Nexus 6P also works well, maybe it's slightly faster than the Nexus 5.
It's not as quite...

Slightly better look at the side of the connector in this picture.
Yes the camera angle does look odd even though I know how the connector comes apart.
I've pulled a few connectors apart in my time and I could just see the "Hook bits" on the edge so had a go...

Hopefully this picture might make sense.
It's clipped around the side edge halfway along.
I unclipped it fairly...
I don't think you can see it very well in my photos but I had to un-clip a flap either side of the connector before I could pull the pins out.
The flap stops the pins from coming out, I'm really...
