It's a pain in the arse job to do. Numerous pipes, belts, covers and even an engine mount needs...

... and ours has gone again.
No goodwill from VW this time.

Likewise our water pump was replaced after the supercharger clutch failed (it's mounted on the water pump) under warranty.

Our 12.5 gti had the same issues and the clutches were replaced under warranty by VW. I was informed it was a known issue also.

OK, so we've been through the whole oil consumption process with VW.
Consumption was absolutely horrendous for the first 10,000kms, then eased off to just terrible.

In November they changed out...

It seems to have been a particular problem with the earlier 1.9 Tdi, rare on the 2.0L and I haven't heard of a problem on the petrol burners.

Hopefully the newer turbos are a little more robust....
