No boost on stock polo GTI 2015

Hey guys.. newbie here.

My wife has a VW Polo GTI (2015)
driving home a fortnight ago from Philip island. the car halfway in the drive just has absolutely no power anymore and sounds different.
if I'd guess the waste gate is fully open (electric actuator maybe stuffed not sure)

either way I brought a cheap OBD2 reader no errors detected.

have you guys any knowledge on these cars, specifically to the idea the turbo actuator can break without error codes?.

Things I've tried.
Moving the actuator arm. It moves (the electric actuator whines as I try this like a highly geared motor spinning)
I have tried battery removal (reset ecu)
I have very limited on these overly technical systems here.
There was a start stop error on way home when this all happened but that error has not come back.

Honestly
First replaced the water pump.
And now if I have to replace the turbo I'll be pissed..

Is there a easy way to access the compressor wheel I'd like to see if it's still there and spins..

Any suggestions?

Take off the intake and elbow to check the turbo.

What's more common to break apart the turbine or compressor wheel

Neither on the is12. The IS38 is a different story.

I’d say actuator failure.

Check for boost leaks. One of your pipes to/from the turbo to intercooler may be loose and leaking or have popped off altogether.

Check error codes for misfires - could be one or more ignition coil packs has decided to pack it in and the car has gone into limp mode.

Being a 2015 polo GTI is that enough to tell ya?

I am finding it hard to do good googling.

I own a skyline and usually Google like rb25det neo etc..

IS12 turbo. The engine is an EA888 variety.

VW uses different terminology to Nissan but the basic turbo engine functions are the same.

As with Skylines I'd always start with the simplest problem, vacuum hose failure of some kind, it's 7 years old and it's more than possible that that's the problem. Follow the vacuum hoses around the engine bay, it's about as complicated plumbing as a Skyline, check for leaks, cracks, holes, hoses fallen of, missing clamps, the usual stuff.

Unlikely to be turbo failure as you didn't mention any noise or smoke.

Unlikely to be electronics in nature as no persistent warnings.

Have you checked for logged errors?
