Owners manual dude....
Jack it from the normal spot at the side and then place the stand under it then do the other side. You'll struggle to get a jack under the front of the car. Other option is just drive the car up on ramps.

i can make a ramp/block but would be keen beans to know where the actual jacking point is down the centre so I can jack it from there as I don't have a jack stand..Quote:

There was a guy on the news just two days ago who was killed because he was working under a car using only the jack. He was found two days later!
I have many friends who have had close calls from cars moving on jacks, I've had them myself.
Dont do it its not worth your life for an oil change.
Go and get a couple of cheap standes from supercheap. Thats all I use, just make sure they're rated for the weight of your car.

We have 4 three ton jack stands so the oil was changed... I only wanted to know if there's a jacking point down the centre so it wouldn't be as hard of a job to do :/ I've been working on BMWs for a while and this was my first manual oil change on a VW...Quote:

As said, on the subframe which is mostly behind the front axle line.
Use low profile ramps to gain some trolley jack clearance. I've been using heavy duty plastic caravan levelling ramps for the last 18 months for anything that maybe slightly lower than the average car. They work great. And ALWAYS use jack stands.
