Anyone else have a Giac stage 1 tune on there Scirocco R??

I would like your opinion..

Have a read through the Tuning and Performance (inc ECU upgrades) section for plenty of info on GIAC and other tunes.

This is the next big ticket item for me
I dont think there are too many around with ECU reflash full stop.

More power throughout the power band especially mid range, haven't got a dyno read yet. Car hasn't blown up yet so I say so far so good.

Incorrect!

Most of the Scirocco owners here have had their ECU flashed, just not with GIAC specifically. Since the OP asked specifically about GIAC.. ;)

So lets speak up... the members that have had ecu reflash.
Who did it and what was the result.

@ Volkstech1: What's your opinion? In your sig you have an R with a GIAC tune, are you making a comparison of some sought?

Thats correct, i do have my scirocco r tuned giac stage 1. Im very happy with the result:) theres a noticable difference in the exhaust note which is a bonus;) very explosive and as expected a bit of traction loss when hitting boost..

Now you need a downpipe to unlock some more power :P

We are hopefully fitting up our new prototype Scirocco R fitment DP this week. Looks amazing!

I've had APR as my tune of choice with all my past GTI's and now with my scirocco R. Their products including their RSC DP and exhaust are extremely good quality and transform the driving experience! I would go with APR any day over GIAC.

Not just saying that cos I've had it in my last 2 cars but also due to the over whelming comparisons made in other forums around how APR out performs GIAC in every way

Perhaps you should try something before dismissing it with such authority?

If you are going to make bold statements, feel free to link all of these threads.

Personally I wouldn't know, I see a lot of threads with Golf R tunes, lots of happy drivers, lots of tune brands.

Just stating my opinion. Not saying that other tunes out there are crap or not worth getting, just saying that I swear by APR Not just for their products but their after sales service. Everyone out there is entitled to their own opinions.

You can have an opinion (I would prefer you have it in someother thread), but to me it's clearly GIAC thread, since the OP asked, if anyone had the GIAC tune in their car.

I will get my scirocco r on the dyno in the next couple of weeks and post the results up for everyone to see.

Does anyone have a stock dyno number for the Scirocco? I know its pointless due to dyno variances but should be around 165kw atw?

Bit like comparing washing machines brands. All seem to do about the same job, no one can see what you have got and no one really cares.

I forgot, we get to put little 'powered by' stickers on our cars. The ultimate go fast accessory!

Just imagine if Miele or Smeg did little 'our laundry is powered by Miele' stickers for our front gates as the ultimate expression of 'mine is bigger/better/smarter than yours'. Still less smug than driving a Prius.

My Scirocco is powered by hamsters..

Ian.. my wheels have been postponed due to an incident in transit which means I am waiting for a replacement :(

Sorry to hear about the wheels....

We are used to having to wait for our pleasures though so its probably not as annoying as it may otherwise have been.
