OOps was to quick to post, didn't realise that team_v had already posted the link!
thanks guys will ask where he got the surround trim from
Hi Nick,
Have replied to your PM, for everyone else, the trim is the just the standard piece that comes with the Alpine head unit. Guess I was just lucky that it blends in perfectly!
What head unit did you get?
Adam
let me know on the solution as well please, as I have waited several months to get this in the car
it's fairly simple. Remove radio, Remove pocket and place the frame for the double din unit into the slot. Wire up and you should be done. The one above shows how to do all that.
I have a 7" JVC DVD and i needed that plastic frame. I also got the antenna plug and the wiring plug so didnt have to touch any of the stock wiring. Its a perfect fit
there isnt a frame but i just went back to autobarn and got a DNA brand double din cradle and it fits sweet as all i did was poprivet the cradle into place and its a perfect fit. most double din aftermarket headunits dont come with a cradle
where did you end up sourcing the frame from, balkanac?
and did you use the Aerpro variety wiring adapters?
Thanks,
Justin
I had issues with my Pioneer head unit in my R32 due to it not coming with a cradle or fascia. I went back to JB and ordered the Pioneer cradle and plastic cover/frame. Looks great now.
all sorted guys. followed the DIY at uk-mkivs.net
bought stuff here: (top bloke and phenomenal pricing and 1 week delivery)
eBay Australia Shop - Liquid ICE 2008: facia fascia adaptor panel plate, ISO I S O lead cable

FP-17-00 Volkswagen Golf Mk IV Jetta Double Din Fascia - eBay, Fascia Plates, In-Car Entertainment, Vehicle Parts Accessories. (end time 23-Jul-10 00:32:05 AEST)
and also bought the kenwood aerpro wiring to ISO, just had to switch two wires.

I had to order a fasica plate from europe for my pioneer head unit, it also didnt come with one. Most places said that pioneer don't make any but i checked on the pioneer europe site and they had information on a fasica plate that would fit thus i ordered one from ebay with full slide out etc. So have a look around at the web sites and you should be able to find the right unit. VW Bora (10-1998/08-2006) - Speakers and Accessories for your car - by Pioneer
its a shame Australia has a smaller market. We have no hope of getting anything locally or nationally for that matter.
Always have to look abroad...
but good to see everyone working it out...
what did you guys do for the power antennae wire?
Do you mean the white cable running into the antennae as in not a powered up one right. I just used the remote power cable i.e the ones used for amps etc. Pioneer manual said thats the one to use for powered antennae. Not sure if it works properly tho will have to test when cradle arrives as reception at the moments worst then without power. Will get pictures of the wiring if you want.
