Insurance - how good is this!

I just did an online insurance quote with AAMI and it's only $570 for a standard 2008 Polo GTI. With engine mods, flashed, body kit and exhaust mods it adds an extra $60.

Maybe it's because I'm an old fart and live in the country but if that's all it costs for the mods I'm planning why would I go anywhere else. Sure beats the $2200 I used to pay 25 years ago for my Bolwell Nagari. Little Pog should go almost as quick too once it has a few things done to it.

Just need to sort out a few things then I'll get one on lease in a couple of months.

Thats pretty good. I'm paying a bit less than this($530) for my Pogo. No extra cost for mods so far too.

We had a thread running on this a few months ago...Its interesting to see the VAST difference people are paying for insurance on their Polo's.

I refuse to EVER have anything to do with AAMI because of those confounded 'Toddy' ads, however out of interest I just ran through their quotinator.

Only $300 more than ING and Suncorp per year...

i was thinking of gettin a wrx at one stage...got quoted 9000 a year by one company :P

i called NRMA today,

being under 25, i got a quote of $1100ish (or $105/monthly).

which is cheap considering the online valuation quoted $1200ish..

i need to try aami tomorrow....

try being 21 and living in western sydney.. $2000 with nrma:frown:

I can't get insurance for anything like that. I'm 26 with a good record and I'm still paying $900 with NRMA. Others quoted me $1000+ (even had one say $2000) :brutal:

I'm was with Allianz and paying approx 1700, but they don't deal with modifications, so now with GIO, 40% NCB, 24, male, Western Sydney, and paying approx 2250 a year. =(

What company are you with for your Polo? Any mods? Yeah I was paying $1200 for a highly modified S13 silvia with Just Cars just didn't like their excess if you had to make a claim.

the polo is insured with gio in newcastle area for 800 a year, fairly happy with that as its the cheapest ive ever paid!
just cars are pretty good, they have been the only company that would touch me and the type of car that i wanted to insure a number of times. just dont crash and pay a wild excess

I'm 23, with a previous drving record for drag racing (in a mini - don't ask) and i'm insured with Shannons for $950

Gotta love mates' rates :D

I'm 32 and pay under $400 full insurance with racv including windscreen

option not sure about mods will have to ring and find out but don't have any

yet.:biggrin:

also, whether or not you have finance owing on the car makes a big difference

polos would probably be one of the cheapest turbo/sports cars to insure (low crash/theft rates) so all you guys paying 2k a year need to shop around

i'm on a lease so i use their insurance, but even getting a quote for curiositys sake, i got 2 quotes well under 1k. (26/m/campbelltown way)

Statistics show a rise of 20% in vehicle write-offs when the vehicle is under finance, hence the extra cost.

Still didn't stop it from being the biggest piece of sh*t I've ever owned. Glad to get rid of it. Broke down at least twice a week, handled like crap (spun it 4 times at a club meet at Oran Park including coming onto the straight!). It wasn't cured until I cut out the original rear end with an anglegrinder and fabricated a 4 bar rear end with panhard rod from scratch. Had to relocate the steering rack to fix the massive bump steer too.

If you ever gat the chance to buy one run, don't walk, as fast as you can away from the poor fool that's trying to get rid of it.

Give me a GTI anyday.

On a previous car I have had no problems with JustCars-I could choose which repairer got the job and it was the one JC were wanting to go with too.
I haven't had much to do with AAMI directly but so far they have messsed up my existing policey but all is sorted now. :)
