New Scirocco R and circumstances that lead to a build of epic proportions
Hi all,
I thought I would share my story of how things can change in an instant. Looking at all things in a positive light can improve any situation and lead to bigger and better things.
My line of work leaves me very time poor and as a result I have too many projects and none of them finished. I was getting sick of driving a ****box and wanted something nicer and something that I didn't have to modify. As a result I decided that a new car was on the cards.
In October of 2016 I compiled a list of what I wanted in a car, first and foremost it had to be a factory turbo car. I hunted around and found that a Scirocco met my needs just nicely.
I found a car in the colour that I wanted and went and looked at it. I fell in love and did the deal. A few days later I received a phone call telling me that my car was ready to be picked up. I rolled up to the dealership and hour before they opened because I was rather excited.
This is how she looked when I picked her up.

I blew the tyres off it on the way home and managed to use an entire tank of fuel in 108kms.
It was decided that some signwriting was needed.

As we were a major sponsor for the Street Machine Drag Challenge we decided to pack our bags and make the trip to Melbourne.

And of course needed to go for a cruise.

We ran the car down the quarter mile and found a major issue even in a standard car. Wheelspin. No matter how the car left the line it just tramped and spun the whole track. We set a time of 13.856 @104 mph but just couldn't get traction.
We made the trip back to Sydney and then onto the cars final destination of North Queensland and this is where the original plan came unstuck.
While travelling at 110km/h a kangaroo decided that it wanted to have a rest on the front end of the car. I managed to slow to approx 60km/h at the time of impact.

I was lucky in the sense that the radiator remained intact and didn't leak so that I could limp the final 600km home. The intercooler had a broken end tank and the condensor had spilt its love juice all over the ground.
This is where I cam to a fork on the road and anyone that knows me, knows that to take a trip inside my brain you need to sit down, hold on and buckle up for a bumpy ride.
I was faced with 2 options,
1. repair and return the car to stock knowing that it would never be the same brand new car again or;
2. go down a road less travelled to build something completely outrageous and unique.
