Odometer to display on the MFD

This may very well seem like a silly question but I can't for the life of me work out how to get the total mileage of my car to display on the central MFD. Is there some easy way to have total kilometers displayed rather than the trip related kilometers? I know you can get this information from the large screen in the centre of the dash but I would prefer it to display all the time in front of my eyeline between the speedo and tacho.

It should display if you turn off the cruise control.

OK, thanks for the tip. Doing that hadn't occured to me because I haven't touched the cruise control buttons seeing as I'm still running in the vehicle and I know from experience not to let engine revs remain unchanged for too long.

I would have assumed when picking up the car that the cruise control would be disabled as the default rather than the other way around.

They're still doing that on the MkVII? I know it's a very minor thing but I do find it annoying.

turning cruise on/off won't affect your running in of the engine. you don't need to use cruise control, just turn it off to display odo.

The Mk6 will show the odometer with CC on when the car is stopped, but when the car is in motion it shows the set CC speed or -- if the speed hasn't been set (but CC switch in on position, where mine stays always as makes it convenient to set immediately when required).

It's really not much of a chore to touch the cruise on/off switch when needed. It's no more onerous than adjusting the sound volume one level. I mean just how lazy can we be if we have to leave the cruise switched on all the time so we don't have to do it when we actually need the cruise?

I agree, it's not a chore now that I know that one needs to turn off the cruise control to allow the odometer to display. It was simply a matter of not realising that this needed to be done in the first place seeing as I had no need to touch the cruise control button when I first picked up the car and, by default, the cruise control was already switched on.
